WHY ARE THE EQUIFIT DTEQ TENDON BOOTS SO DIFFERENT?
EQUIFIT'S range of tendon boots are really very impressive, amongst which the DTeqs really shine. The DTeq is their high-end boot for those who simply won't compromise; they are sheer quality and offer the highest levels of protection possible. Not only are they beautiful to look at, they are exquisitely made.
As with all their products, EQUIFIT proudly follow their own formula when it comes to their design; that which is tried and tested and proven to work in other industries and then applied to the equestrian world. Here we will explain what makes the DTeqs so UNIQUE...
Firstly they offer an absolutely 100% NON-NEOPRENE solution - the outer shell from an incredibly tough and durable material called EverLeather. This material is (as with all their technologies) trademarked and, being a faux leather product, animal friendly...
"EverLeather is created with a matrix of nylon, polyester and microfiber, granting it phenomenal durability and strength. It’s resistant to scratches, abrasions, punctures and tears. Even with heavy use, EverLeather’s beautiful look and feel is preserved for years with easy cleaning and minimal maintenance"
It is a sublime material - as you can see from the photo below, virtually indistinguishable from real leather!
Yet another thing that sets these boots aside is the removable liner system that they use. This liner system is AMAZING for 3 reasons...
REASON 1 It means you can swap between standard liners, sheepswool liners, and speciality liners. This means one set of boots can be used for summer or winter or for horses with different booting requirements.
REASON 2 You can keep spare liners on the yard or take them to shows. Rather than being stuck having to reuse a wet and muddy pair of boots, or having to wait for them to dry, you can simply wipe the DTeqs down, and replace the wet/dirty liner with a nice clean and dry one.
REASON 3 Both the standard, speciality, and the sheepswool liners use the same ImpactTeq Foam that blocks an impact force from travelling through to the leg. It is the same foam widely used in military and high impact sports equipment such as Ice Hockey. This is the type of technology that can really make a difference and offer your horse the best protection out there.
"ImpacTeq is designed to absorb extreme impact...ImpacTeq features a revolutionary foam that firms to a protective shield upon impact. Below the defensive foam is a multi-dimensional air mesh that promotes airflow and circulation, helping to keep the body cool. The two layers mold to the body for a secure and custom fit. ImpacTeq is antimicrobial, breathable, easy to wash and quick to dry."
SPECIALITY LINERS AVAILABLE FOR DTEQ BOOTS:
Knock Knee
- Designed for horses’ that experience front end interference.
- Allows for freedom of movement while providing an EverLeather strike zone to protect the knee against impact, cuts or abrasions.
Peel Away
- The removable perforated sections help alleviate leg pressure
- Great option for horses with an existing splint, an old injury that caused the leg shape to shift, or those prone to rubs and irritation from boots.
Extended Hind Liner
- Provides increased coverage and protection for horses that experience hind end interference.
- Can be used in the jumping ring but also for schooling horses that are prone to interference.
UNIQUE FIT:
- EQUIFIT boots have a unique fit compared to other brands. The materials perform best when the boot fits snugly to the leg. This ensures full contact throughout the boot and leg. If the horse's boots are too big or the bottom strap is left loose it can also cause dirt and debris to get into the boots, potentially causing irritation to the legs.
- The liners absorb any pressure and impact. The more contact with the leg, the better whilst they also mold to the exact shape of the leg.
- Having 3 straps distributes pressure more evenly across the leg compared to 2 straps.
- Lastly, as each boot is hand machined, each pair of boots has it's own Serial number - this also means that the boots are fully customisable, meaning you can if you wish choose your own colours or even have lettering or a logo embossed onto the boots.
- The boots are extremely lightweight, at just over 200g each, therefore much lighter than a comparable neoprene version.
